Job Summary

The Payroll Admin/Specialist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the biweekly payroll processing, including maintaining related records and filing tax reports and other payroll-related obligations. The Payroll Analyst is responsible for approving and overseeing all payroll transactions and documents, as well as reviewing and updating procedures and preparing reports as needed. This position may require flexibility of hours.

Must have Healthcare/Hospital Payroll and Kronos experience

1. Processes bi-weekly payroll with all information as required: all time and attendance and personnel transactions such as new hire, termination, leave of absence, benefits deductions, garnishments, etc., voluntary and involuntary deduction-related transactions including, garnishments, tax levies, cafeteria etc. State and Federal taxes, including quarterly and year-end reconciliations.
2. Prints, sorts and distributes payroll checks and direct deposit vouchers according to internal procedures for regular and off-cycle payroll processing. Creates and electronically transmits payroll reports to banks related to checks and direct deposits as part of required reporting.
3. Engages in payroll department customer service activities including research, correspondence and in-person communication to answer questions from employees, hospital leadership and external agencies. Collaborative approach to internal customer and peer relationships.
4. Reviews interface data to ensure the importing of time data is valid and the upload of Federal and State taxes are reconciled. Understands the end-to-end processing of Payroll as well as the Time Reporting Systems and how the data interfaces into Payroll.
5. Recommends and implements improvements for existing audits and processes. Establishes criteria for new audits and procedures.
6. Provides training on hospital policies in formal settings such as New Employee Orientation and informal settings such as policy and procedure questions from employees and hospital leadership.
7. Processes payroll-related forms and employee requests.
8. Maintains strict confidentiality of data.


High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
Minimum 3 years of payroll processing experience with a solid understanding of payroll systems and processes.
Experience with Kronos Workforce Timekeeper or similar timekeeping systems preferred.
Payroll system conversion experience preferred.
Healthcare payroll experience a MUST
Certified Payroll Professional or Fundamental Payroll Certification preferred.

Intermediate skill level in MS Excel. Detail-oriented, technically proficient and able to communicate and collaborate effectively with various departments.
